How to contact your politician

You are the expert in your experience and your story is powerful. By telling your politician about your experience, you can help us raise awareness of early diagnosis and campaign for change.

You can e-mail, post a letter, phone, or tweet your politician.

However you choose to get in touch, there are a few common tips to keep in mind.

  1. Introduce yourself – make sure you let them know you are their constituent and how they can contact you. A good way of doing this is to include your address or postcode at the end of your letter.
  2. Be clear and succinct – you will only have a few minutes to get your point across so try to stick to one issue at a time and make sure you have a clear ask. Not sure where to start? You can use our letter template here.
  3. Follow up – say thank you or prompt them for a response. Let us know what they say by writing to us at policy@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk
