How to find your politician

Who you need to speak to may be different depending on where you live in the UK. Find your politician in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

UK Parliament

The UK is divided into 650 areas called constituencies. Each constituency is represented by one Member of Parliament (MP). The constituency you live in makes you a constituent of that MP.

MPs represent you in the UK Parliament. They check and challenge the work of the UK Government, debate important issues of the day, make and change laws and check and approve Government spending.

You can find your MP here: Find MPs - MPs and Lords - UK Parliament

Scottish Parliament

Everyone in Scotland is represented by eight Scottish Members of Parliament (MSPs). You can contact any or all of them to raise awareness of the issues that affect you.

There are two types of MSPs: one who represents your local area (constituency MSP) and seven who represent the larger area that includes your constituency (regional MSP).

MSPs represent you in the Scottish Parliament, also known as Holyrood. They check and challenge the work of the Scottish Government, debate important issues of the day and check and approve Government spending. They also pass laws on issues such as healthcare and education.

You can find your MSPs here: Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) | Scottish Parliament Website

The Northern Ireland Assembly

Everyone in Northern Ireland is represented by five Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). You can contact any or all of them to raise awareness of the issues that affect you.

MLAs represent you in the Northern Ireland Assembly, also known as Stormont. They check and challenge the work of the Northern Ireland Executive, debate important issues of the day and check and approve Government spending. They also pass laws on devolved issues such as healthcare and education.

You can find your MLAs here:  MLA Contact Details (niassembly.gov.uk)

Senedd Cymru/ Welsh Parliament

Everyone in Wales is represented by five Members of the Senedd (MSs). You can contact any or all of them to raise awareness of the issues that affect you.

There are two types of MSs: one who represents your local area (constituency MS) and four who represent the larger area that includes your constituency (regional MS).

MSs represent you in the Welsh Parliament, also known as the Senedd. They check and challenge the work of the Welsh Government, debate important issues of the day and check and approve Government spending. They also pass laws on devolved issues such as healthcare and education.
