Jana - Local Network

"By volunteering, you will change people’s lives"

Jana has been a volunteer for Crohn's and Colitis UK since 2015 and volunteers in the Clyde Network.

I'm not a patient, but I joined Crohn's and Colitis UK to support my partner (who has Crohn’s Disease), learn more about the disease, and meet people that can share their experience with the condition.

The Local Network needed volunteers to help with various things so I joined the team and since then, I’ve taken on several various tasks such as monitoring the Network's email account, editing the newsletter and organising events.

My personal proudest moment was when I was asked by the Crohn's & Colitis UK central office to help design the Networks’ newsletter templates and style guides.

My biggest achievement was helping to organise an information open day in a new hospital and working with the IBD specialists there who were keen to encourage patients to get involved in developing the IBD service at the hospital. This big event also enabled us to make links with local IBD nurses who are keen to work with us on promoting the Network and the charity to their patients.

By volunteering, you change people’s lives, in so many different ways. Whether it’s supporting my local network or fundraising for the charity, I know I can make a huge difference to someone’s life.

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, develop new skills and make a difference to everyone affected by Crohn's and Colitis.
