Ziyad - Information Feedback Volunteer

"Volunteering was a natural step for me in my journey with Crohn's disease."

Ziyad has been living with Crohn’s since 2007. For the past six years he has volunteered with Crohn’s & Colitis UK, first as an Awareness Volunteer and now as an Information Feedback Volunteer.

What I enjoy the most about volunteering is the chance to make a tangible difference in people's lives. I've always been intrigued by the patient experience, especially meeting those with similar and vastly different experiences to my own.

Whether it's through sharing my own story to let others know they're not alone or by helping to refine information so it's easily digestible (pun not intended), every contribution feels like a step towards a more supportive and understanding community.

Information Feedback Volunteer

Among the various projects I've participated in, In My Shoes and the Talking Toolkit hold a special place for me. These initiatives offered a unique glimpse into the daily reality of living with IBD, which can be really hard to explain to those who do not have it. These campaigns provided invaluable resources for individuals like me to navigate conversations about our conditions with confidence - a skill I once struggled with immensely.
