IBD has no borders

Every year, on 19 May we mark World IBD Day. It’s a chance to really put Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) on the map and get people thinking about what life with Crohn’s or Colitis is really like. The theme EFFCA (European Federation of Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis Associations) has chosen for World IBD Day 2024 is ‘IBD has no borders’. To link with this theme, we want to let you know about some of the services and tools we have across Crohn’s & Colitis UK which support everyone affected by IBD. So no matter your age, ethnicity or walk of life, you can access the care and support you need.

Our information

At Crohn’s & Colitis UK we aim to make our information easy for everyone to understand. All about Crohn's and Colitis provides basic information about the conditions, what causes them, what symptoms you might get, the tests that you might have, and the treatments available. This information is written in plain English and helps to bust some of the jargon and myths you might hear. And it is now available in six different languages to help even more people understand about living with Crohn's and Colitis. These are:

Our Helpline

Did you know you can speak to our helpline in another language?  This is done through an interpreter and there are 250 different languages available.  When you call the helpline you will hear a short recorded message. When the call is answered by our team then state, in English, the language you would like to use. Our helpline is available 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday on 0300 222 5700 (except English bank holidays).

Our Can't Wait Cards

With our membership we offer translations of our Can’t Wait Cards making it easier to discuss toilet access while you are travelling. These are available in 32 different languages. Just drop us an email at membership@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk or give us a call on 01727 734465 if you would like one of these.
