Lloyd Macey

2017 X FACTOR star Lloyd Macey was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2013 whilst at university.

Lloyd has raised awareness of Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis in the national media, appearing on loose Women as well supporting the charity by officially opening the Swansea WALK IT.

I am just one among thousands of sufferers from IBD in the UK and while I think It's really important for people in the public eye to speak out about their own conditions in order for the wider public to gain a greater understanding. It's also important that everyone understands that each person's illness is as unique as they are. I consider myself fortunate and my experience of my illness is far different from the many people out there who struggle to live with their conditions on a day to day basis.

While our conditions give us, a common bond they do not define us as individuals or people. As such, I can't offer advice on how each person should deal with their own illness. However if someone asks how I deal with feeling unwell, I say that on those days I tell myself that I am more than my condition.
