Applications are invited from people with recent personal experience of Ulcerative Colitis (using NHS services), their advocates or unpaid carers. Also essential is knowledge of the experiences and needs of a wide range of people, which gives you the ability to champion patient or carer perspectives on Ulcerative Colitis.
The committee will be updating a specific part of the current Ulcerative Colitis Guideline around the use of certain medications that are used for people (adults and children) with mild or moderate Ulcerative Colitis. For example, steroids (such as prednisolone), aminosalicyclates (such as sulfasalazine) and immunomodulators (such as methotrexate).
The successful applicant will be expected to attend meetings, read papers and comment on draft documents produced by the committee.
The commitment for this piece of work is around 8 months. There will be 3 meetings in London and Manchester – dates for these are included in the application pack -along with 2 teleconferences prior to the work starting. The successful applicant will receive some remuneration for their time.
If you are interested in this opportunity, your application must be made by 5pm on Friday 4 August 2017
While Crohn’s & Colitis UK is not part of the selection process, members of our Policy and Public Affairs Team would be happy to discuss your application or answer questions (where they can) before you contact NICE, should wish to, by emailing ppr@crohnsandcolitis.uk. If you would like to discuss your application directly with NICE, contact Emma Chambers by email emma.chambers@nice.org.uk or phone 020 7045 2057.
For those interested in influencing the guideline but not able to commit your time to this role, there will be an opportunity to influence the guideline in the future, so please look out for updates on our website and social media platforms. We will be asking people with Ulcerative Colitis to share their experiences of treatment and use of certain medications to inform our response to the guideline update.
If you are interested in getting more involved in opportunities like this in the future, please read more about our patient involvement work.
