Working with IBD: Investigating the effects of job demands and resources on fatigue in workers with Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Researchers at Nottingham Trent University are looking for adults diagnosed with IBD to take part in a study looking to understand more about working with IBD and fatigue.

This new study by researchers at Nottingham Trent University will look at the effects of job demands on fatigue in workers with IBD. Fatigue is the most frequently reported reason for work impairment in individuals with IBD but people can feel afraid or uncomfortable about approaching their employer for adjustments.

We would like to hold focus groups to understand how fatigue is affected by different factors at work, both positive and negative. Our goal is to use these findings to highlight how work environments can be designed to help manage IBD fatigue and mitigate its impact.

To be eligible to take part you need to be:

  • Over 18 years
  • Diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Currently employed, or employed within the last 12 months, in the UK

Focus groups will be conducted virtually on Microsoft Teams, with the option to dial in by phone. Participants will be asked to share their experiences of IBD fatigue at work, both positive and negative, with a group of 3 to 7 other participants. The focus groups are expected to last between 30 and 90 minutes, and participants are welcome to take breaks at any time during the call. You will have the opportunity to choose a focus group timeslot.

By entering your details, you are not committing to take part, but you will be redirected to the study page. You will have the opportunity to change your mind at any time.

This research study is NOT organised by Crohn's & Colitis UK and, therefore, we cannot take responsibility for your involvement in the research.
