Validating a new questionnaire on gastric sensations

Researchers at University of York are looking for people with Crohn's or Colitis to take part in a new research study looking at emotional reaction to sensations from the stomach that signal states such as hunger and fullness. This will involve completing an online survey.

Researchers at University of York are looking for people with Crohn's or Colitis to join a research project looking to validate a new questionnaire. This new questionnaire asks people about their emotional reaction to sensations from the stomach that signal states such as hunger, satiation (satisfaction), and fullness. The technical term for this is gastric interoceptive evaluation.

Researchers are asking people with gastrointestinal disorders to take part in this survey to better understand if gastric interoceptive evaluation is a source of psychological distress for people with gastrointestinal disorders, including people with Crohn's and Colitis.

To be eligible to take part you need to:

  • Be aged over 18
  • Live with Crohn's or Colitis (No proof of diagnosis is needed)
  • Be fluent in English
  • Live in the UK

Taking part involves completing an online survey that asks questions about the sensations you get from your body and stomach (gastric interoceptive evaluation) and your gastrointestinal symptoms. You will also be asked to complete the gastric interoceptive evaluation questionnaire again a week later.

This whole process is expected to take up to 20 minutes.

If you are interested in taking part please complete the form below to be redirected to the study website where you will be able to find out more information or contact the research team.
