PRESTO - Patient Response to Stoma

Researchers at University of Greenwich are looking for adults diagnosed with Crohn's or Colitis and either living with a stoma or due to have stoma forming surgery to take part in a new study looking at developing a patient-reported outcome measure to track adjustment to stoma over time.

Researchers at University of Greenwich are developing a patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) to track how people adjust to living with a stoma.

They would like people to take part in a study to review the draft patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) and check how easy it is to use. They also want people to complete it twice, two-weeks apart to check it is reliable over time.

There are two parts to the study and you can choose to take part in one or both parts.

Part one is cognitive interviews one-to-one with a researcher. You will be asked to complete the draft PROM and provide feedback to the researchers on how easy it is to understand. This will take around 30 minutes.

Part two is validation. You will be asked to compete the PROM twice, two-weeks apart. You will be asked to complete it online. This will take around 20-40 minutes.

To take part you must be:

  • Over 18
  • Living with Crohn's or Colitis
  • Currently living with a stoma  OR  due to have stoma forming surgery.

The researchers want to develop this measure to assess patients before surgery and identify those who may struggle to adjust. This will allow patients to be offered additional support and improve clinical practice.

By entering your details, you are not committing to take part, but you will be forwarded to the Patient Information Sheet for more information. You will have the opportunity to change your mind at any time. Once you have read the PIS, if you are interested in taking part in this study please email: tiffeny.james@greenwich.ac.uk

This research study is NOT organised by Crohn's & Colitis UK and, therefore, we cannot take responsibility for your involvement in the research.
