Living with Crohn's: A study exploring the lived experiences and perceived life changes for patients diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.

A postgraduate student at Northumbria University wants to gain insight into the lived experience of people with Crohn’s Disease and how living with this condition impacts daily living. They are looking for people over the age of 18 who do not have active disease to take part in an online interview.

This study aims to gain insight into the lived experience of people with Crohn’s Disease and how living with this condition impacts daily living. This will aim to identify different individual experiences and understand the condition from a psychological and social perspective. The intention is to understand the life changes from the patient’s perspective after being diagnosed and how this has altered daily routines, even when the disease is inactive.

The study will require people to take part in an interview lasting up to 45 minutes, which will be completed online. Anyone over the age of 18 with a Crohn's disease diagnosis who does not currently have active disease can take part.

The postgraduate student hopes this study will help contribute understanding of the impact this condition has on people living with Crohn's, even when they are not experiencing a flare-up or medical symptoms. They aim to give people a voice on how they feel and draw conclusions to how future research from bigger research organisations can drive change to help support the Inflammatory Bowel Disease community.
