Exploring identity in young people with chronic pain

Researchers at University of Bath are looking for young adults aged 16-24 to take part in a study looking their experiences of chronic pain.

This research study at the University of Bath is looking to explore how young people with chronic pain, including Crohn's and Colitis, see themselves. The project aims to create a tool to help understand identity in young people with chronic pain.

To take part in the research you need to:

  • be aged 16-24
  • have experienced chronic pain for a minimum of 3 months (either continuous or intermittent pain)
  • speak fluent English

You will be asked to take part in an interview with researchers about your experiences. The researchers would like you to provide photographs that represent you. They will ask you to explain how you see yourself and what makes you 'you'.

The interview will last 20-60 minutes and will take place online.

Using the information they gather the researchers want to create a new questionnaire which will help researchers and doctors to find better ways to treat chronic pain. You will be given a £10 gift voucher as a thank you for taking part.

If you are interested in taking part in this study, or would like more information, please contact the research team directly: i-pain@bath.ac.uk

They will be in touch with more information. You will have the opportunity to change your mind at any time.

This research study is NOT organised by Crohn's & Colitis UK and, therefore, we cannot take responsibility for your involvement in the research.
