Experiences of attending outdoor events for people with special dietary requirements

Researchers at the University of the West of England would like to hold focus groups with people with special dietary requirements to better understand their experiences of attending outdoor events.

The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) provide a blueprint for United Nations member states to try to reduce inequality and increase good health and wellbeing while contributing to environmental and economic sustainability. Catering to special dietary requirements can contribute to achieving the SDG through reducing inequality, contributing to health and wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and the economy.

In social settings, it can sometimes be challenging for people with different dietary requirements to stick to their diet. This can lead to feeling excluded.

The researchers would like to hold focus groups with adults (age 18+) with different dietary requirements to better understand their experiences at outdoor events. The focus groups will take place on Microsoft Teams.

The researchers hope to use the findings to encourage positive change to make the catering provision at outdoor events more inclusive for people with special dietary requirements.
