The Crohn's Life Impact Questionnaire

The Department of Gastroenterology at Manchester Royal Infirmary, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, and Galen Research are looking for Crohn’s patients aged between 16 and 18 to take part in a study exploring the impact of transitioning from paediatric to adult IBD clinics.

The findings of this study will be used to assess patient services, and to improve the experience of transitioning for young adults with Crohn’s Disease.

There is currently a quality-of-life questionnaire that was developed for adults with Crohn’s Disease, the Crohn’s Life Impact Scale (CLIQ). The aim of this study is to adapt the CLIQ to make it suitable for use with Crohn’s patients aged 16-18. The project team want to interview young adults who have been diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease and are currently undergoing the transition from paediatric services to adult. These interviews are being conducted to assess whether the adult CLIQ is relevant to young adults and reflects the true impact Crohn’s has on your lives. They are interested in hearing about your experience; for example, how your Crohn’s affects your day-to-day life and what things it prevents you from doing. They are particularly interested in those issues that are most important to you.

If you would like to help with this study, the project team will organise a virtual interview with a researcher at Galen to discuss your experience with Crohn’s. This usually takes about an hour. During the interview, you will also complete and comment on the CLIQ questionnaire. Your comments will help to determine if the CLIQ is useful for your age group as it is, or if changes need to be made to make it more suitable.

The information you provide will be entirely confidential. If you are interested in helping with the research project or need further information, please contact Karen Kemp by email: Karen.Kemp@mft.nhs.uk

This research study is NOT organised by Crohn's & Colitis UK and, therefore, we cannot take responsibility for your involvement in the research.
