Stoma Support Study - Co-production and user-testing of a digital intervention to support young people with a stoma

Researchers at Keele University are looking for young people (16-35) from Black, African, South Asian and Caribbean backgrounds who have had stoma surgery to help them design and test a digital intervention to support the prevention and self-management of the distress experienced by young people living with a stoma due to IBD.

Researchers at Keele University would like young people aged 16-35 to help them co-produce and test a digital intervention looking to support the prevention and self-management of the distress experienced by young people living with a stoma due to Crohn's or Colitis.

The researchers are looking for people with lived experience of a stoma to work with them to produce the content and format for the online resource. This will involve writing and recording content as well as helping to build the website. The researchers are particularly keen to work with young people from Black, African, South Asian and Caribbean backgrounds, who have been underrepresented in the research so far.

To take part you must:

  • be aged 16-35
  • be from Black, African, South Asian, Caribbean background
  • have undergone stoma surgery due to IBD

The researchers want to take a “co-production” approach where they will work with young people as collaborators or co-researchers. They want to give the opportunity for individuals to have some ownership over the research and the online resource that is produced. At a minimum, involvement will include taking part in three 2-hour online workshops scheduled over the course of a few months, along with other young people living with a stoma and researchers.

If you are interested in taking part, or would like more information about the study, please complete the form below.

By entering your details, you are not committing to take part, but your contact details will be forwarded to the researcher who will get in touch with you directly with more information. You will have the opportunity to change your mind at any time.

This research study is NOT organised by Crohn's & Colitis UK and, therefore, we cannot take responsibility for your involvement in the research.
