The IBD Patient Survey and the Service Survey as part of the IBD UK Benchmarking 2023 are both open – and we need your help!
We've heard that you need more time, so we've extended the deadline for both surveys to Friday 25 August.
The IBD UK Benchmarking was developed to encourage IBD services to recognise what they are doing well and identify where they need to improve. Services are benchmarked against the IBD Standards 2019 by analysing responses to the UK-wide Patient Survey from people living with IBD, and responses from services themselves (the Service Survey).
IBD UK are a partnership of 17 professional organisations and charities representing people with IBD, working together to improve care and treatment for everyone affected by IBD. Crohn’s & Colitis UK chairs IBD UK and acts as secretariat. This year the IBD Registry, a partner in IBD UK, will be collecting the data for both surveys.
You have until Friday 25 August to have your say about how your service is doing in providing IBD care. Only one person from each service should register to take part, so please share this with a colleague if someone else in your team is responsible.
Over 72% of IBD services completed the Service Survey in 2019/20. The combination of patient views and comparison against the IBD Standards provided a powerful and unique opportunity to push up standards of care for everyone with IBD. It led to service-specific reports that helped provide the evidence for more staffing resources and a national report that has opened the door for conversations at a national level on the need to improve care for people living with IBD.
We have already received over 10,000 responses from patients to the IBD Patient Survey, but there are some groups we still need to reach, so we can ensure that we’re getting a clear and representative picture of the care received by people from all sections of the diverse community living with IBD. We particularly want to hear from people from non-white backgrounds. You can help us by mentioning the Patient Survey in clinics and use our Comms toolkit to spread the word.
Both the Patient Survey and Service Survey close on Friday 25 August
If you have any questions about the Service Survey, please see the FAQs here and don’t hesitate to contact info@ibduk.org.
Together, we can work towards improving services for people living with IBD. Thank you for your involvement!
