Isobel Mason works as a nurse consultant in gastroenterology at the Royal Free Hospital and leads the IBD nursing strategy at Crohn’s & Colitis UK.

She has a busy clinical role running advanced nursing services for patients referred with iron deficiency anaemia, coeliac disease, IBD and dyspepsia.

Her NHS leadership role includes leading teams of clinical nurse specialists in gastroenterology & hepatology.

At Crohn’s & Colitis UK she leads the nursing programme, which aims for all those living with inflammatory bowel disease have access to a suitably qualified nurse specialist. The programme includes the Crohn’s & Colitis UK nurse specialists, which provides funding and supports nurses career development and delivering the charity’s strategy in all four UK nations.


Lisa Younge works as a Nurse Consultant in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at St Mark’s Hospital in London. She supports a team of IBD Specialist Nurses, and her clinical workload includes nurse led clinics, advice line work and service development. She is currently a nurse representative on the IBDUK board, and has previously been Chair of the Nurses section of the European Crohn’s & Colitis Organisation, nurse representative on the British Society of Gastroenterology IBD Section Committee, and Secretary of the Royal College of Nursing IBD Specialist Interest Group.

She works one day a week at Crohn’s & Colitis UK, supporting the IBD Nursing Programme and running Advice Line Training for nurses.
