New reports show picture of IBD care at your hospital

Published 18 March 2020

Thank you to the 10,000 people with Crohn's and Colitis, and the 166 IBD teams across the UK who took part in the IBD Benchmarking Tool 2019/20. You can now find reports for your hospital on the IBD UK website.

Your incredible support for the IBD Patient Survey, combined with the amazing response from hospitals who completed their Service Self-Assessment, means that hospitals can assess how they're doing against the 2019 IBD Standards. The combination of patient and hospital responses provides a powerful and unique opportunity to push up standards of care for everyone with Crohn's and Colitis.

Together, these results will help hospitals to make improvements to care.

We acknowledge that right now, for hospitals and NHS staff, the focus will be the response to the outbreak of COVID-19, the coronavirus. This means that, understandably, hospitals may need to focus on their improvements later in the year. We are working closely with IBD teams to monitor the situation and will be in touch soon about how you can get involved.

IBD UK - a partnership of 17 patient and professional organisations chaired by Crohn's & Colitis UK - are still planning to provide ongoing Quality Improvement workshops, tools and resources to hospitals, to support them in using their results to improve the quality of care in your hospital.

The IBD Benchmarking Tool will run again in 2021.

Take a look at our short animation about the IBD Standards and Benchmarking Tool.
