The UK and devolved governments need to work more closely with Crohn's & Colitis UK and professional organisations to make sure that messages are clearer, more joined up and reach the right audiences. In the future, we need to prevent people with Crohn's and Colitis from being unnecessarily confused, put at risk and anxious.
Your IBD services have been disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic and there's been a big impact on your care -we'll continue to highlight the need for services to run as fully and safely as possible.
- Over a quarter of people with Crohn's and Colitis (26%) haven't been able to speak to their IBD team during the coronavirus pandemic, or it's taken longer than usual, although some have been more responsive
- 37% of people with Crohn's and Colitis have been offered virtual appointments, and 58% of you would like the choice of virtual or face-to-face appointments in the future
There has been a big impact on mental health and wellbeing for people with Crohn's and Colitis, with people feeling isolated from others and concerned about leaving the house.
Although we know the pandemic has been extremely difficult for people with long-term-conditions, our Life in Lockdown survey has shown the positive side too. People with Crohn's and Colitis have had more time to rest and look after themselves, and the pandemic could change working environments for the better.
Thanks again to everyone who took part in our survey, you'll be hearing more from us in the coming weeks and months about how we'll be using these results to make your voices heard and focus on what matters to you.
