Sarah has been with the charity for five years now and has made it her mission to get people thinking and talking about their bowels. Her commitment to driving greater visibility of Crohn’s and Colitis has underpinned every part of our work in striving for the delivery of better diagnosis, care, and lives for all those affected by IBD.
She has been a fantastic advocate for everyone living with Crohn’s and Colitis and has helped the charity achieve so much during her time here.
"We can see the conversations in our mainstream media and with the public are changing, and I am so proud of being part of that change," she says.
Sarah was also at the helm when COVID hit and helped to steer the charity through the pandemic – no mean feat!
"So many Crohn’s & Colitis UK members were severely affected, but our fantastic staff and supporters were able to show the charity at its best," she recalls. "We provided light and hope with trusted, up-to-date information and reassurance during a period of horrible uncertainty. Crohn's & Colitis UK emerged from the pandemic with a new structure, a new strategy and increased income and influence, enabling us to do more than ever to make a real difference to the lives of people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease."
Sarah will take up a new post as CEO of Asthma & Lung UK. Meanwhile, Trustees here at Crohn’s & Colitis UK are in the process of appointing a new Chief Executive.
"Sarah is a tough act to follow, and I want to thank her for everything she has done during her five years at Crohn’s & Colitis UK," says Dr Jackie Craissati, MBE and Chair of the Board.
"As for what comes next: we are absolutely committed to finding the right person to take over. As a charity, we are going from strength to strength and we have big plans for the future. We are here for everyone affected by Crohn’s and Colitis and that won’t change."
