When I went for a new job, I didn't tell them about my condition because my confidence had been shattered from previous bad experiences. But one day, an honest conversation with my manager was a break-through moment. It led to great communication, understanding and support for the unpredictable times and reassurance that my regular health appointments can be flexibly managed. I've never been more confident and empowered to give my best to the company.

No longer should it be down to 'luck' or 'a good manager' that people living with invisible disabilities and conditions in the workplace are acknowledged, understood and supported.
Every workplace should be inclusive - no matter how big or small, no matter what your role is.
Last year, you told us, in our Life In Lockdown survey, you were benefitting from more time at home to rest and better manage your condition. And although nearly half of you were optimistic that the pandemic would change the way we work for the better, not everyone feels able to talk about their condition or the support they need at work.
Today, for the next phase of our Not Every Disability is Visible campaign we're launching 'Are You IN?' We're calling on major UK businesses to make their workplaces more supportive for staff living with Crohn's and Colitis and other invisible disabilities and conditions.
It's quick and simple to get involved and there is also the opportunity to get your own employer involved. We'll provide companies with a range of digital resources to support them and their staff living with invisible health conditions.
We know that not everyone with Crohn's and Colitis is in employment. We also know that our community is powerful. That's why we're asking everyone to get behind our campaign as part of our bigger commitment this year to create a world where everyone living with Crohn's and Colitis feels understood and supported.
