TO THE MEDICINE TOOL

This tool provides information on medicines for people aged 18 and over with Crohn’s or Ulcerative Colitis — it does not include information about surgery. This tool is designed to be used by patients, it is not intended to be used by prescribers. The aim of this tool is to support your conversations with your IBD team. It will help you talk to your IBD team about what matters most to you.

This tool is not designed to replace any advice given by your IBD team. Always discuss new treatment options and any changes to your current treatment with your IBD team.

  • This tool is not suitable for those with Indeterminate IBD (also known as IBD unclassified, or IBDU) and Microscopic Colitis.
  • There are many factors that you and your IBD team will think about before deciding on the right treatment option for you. Not all of these factors are included in this tool.
  • Some of the medicines in this tool may not be suitable for people who have a history of other conditions including certain types of cancers or multiple sclerosis (MS).
  • This tool contains medicines licenced in the UK for the treatment of Crohn’s and Colitis. The medicines included were agreed based on feedback from healthcare professionals and people living with Crohn’s and Colitis. The tool does not include all licenced medicines.
  • Some medicines may not be offered in certain locations due to licensing or local access.
