Fundraising tips!

Hosting your Cake & a Cuppa this October will help raise awareness and vital funds for these often misunderstood and invisible conditions.

Check out tried and tested top fundraising tips to make your Cake & a Cuppa a huge success!

Planning and Promotion

  • Set a Date and Time: Choose a date and time that works best for your audience
  • Location: Decide on a venue – your home, place of education, a community hall, or your workplace
  • Invitations: Send out invites well in advance through social media, email, and word of mouth. Use your poster or editable invitation
  • Theme: Consider having a theme to make it more fun and engaging, such as a bake-off or a vintage tea party

Preparation

  • Bake Sale: Encourage guests to bring their homemade treats. Offer a variety of options, including gluten-free and vegan choices
  • Coffee Varieties: Provide a range of coffee options, including decaf, flavoured syrups, and non-dairy milk alternatives
  • Fundraising Materials: Use your fundraising pack and/or digital resources to bring your event to life!

After being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease at 18, I wanted to give back and raise awareness for the cause. Crohn’s & Colitis UK is vital for funding research, increasing media awareness, and providing support for those affected, day in, day out. I enjoyed the fundraiser, especially the baking! Thanks to the generosity of my friends and family, we raised nearly £700!

How do I raise funds at my event?

  • Display suggested donation amounts for coffee and cakes to guide guests
  • Charge a ticket price for people to attend – you could include a cake or coffee as part of the ticket price
  • Host a raffle - can a local business help support with raffle prizes?
  • Use our foodie quiz
  • Match funding – ask you employer if they can match the amount you have raised
  • Play games – like guess the how many sweets in the jar, name the teddy bear
  • Host a bake off competition
  • Set up a welcome table with information about the charity with your collection pot
  • Share your story - Sharing your personal reason for supporting Crohn's & Colitis UK can really make all the difference. Explain why you've chosen to fundraise and just how important it is to you.
  • Social Media: Share updates, photos, and live streams of the event on social media to reach a broader audience

Let everyone know the difference their contribution will make;

Hosting your Cake & a Cuppa this October is not just an event; it’s a movement. Your efforts will help fund life-changing research, vital awareness campaigns for earlier diagnosis and better treatment options, and our essential support services. Together, we can make a real difference.
