When will my pack arrive?

Once you have signed up, your pack will be with you in the post within 10 working days. You will receive a welcome email within a couple days of joining.

What will be in the membership pack?

Included in your pack is your membership card and Can’t Wait Card, a Radar Key if you have requested one, and some information about how to get the best out of your membership, and where to find information and support. If you feel anything is missing, or you have any questions, just get let us know.

Where can I find information about my condition, and other things I may want to know about?

We have over fifty information pages written to help you find reliable and trustworthy information. These cover topics from work and benefits, to medication and surgeries. Please let us know if you would like any of these posted to you in hard copy.

Is there a helpline I can call for advice and support?

Our Helpline runs from 9am to 5pm every week day, and can provide you with top quality information and support. Please call 0300 222 5700 to find out more.

Are there any groups or networks I can join?

Our Local Networks are run by volunteers who organise events throughout the year, from coffee mornings and medical talks to awareness raising events and fundraisers. It’s a great way to meet other people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis in your community. Find your closest network here. They also run virtual social events, which are great if you don't fancy the travel.

What if someone does not accept the Can't Wait Card?

We hope the Can’t Wait Card helps you to feel more confident using accessible toilets, and if asking for access to private toilets. Unfortunately, it is not a legal requirement for a venue to provide access to private toilets (including staff toilets). We are working hard to get companies on board to commit to training their staff to understand Crohn’s and Colitis and to recognise the Can’t Wait Card.

If someone does not accept the card, we suggest speaking to a manager and reporting it to their Head Office where applicable. Hopefully this will encourage them to review their policies. We are unable make complaints on behalf of individuals, but if you would like to share your experience with us then please do.

I would like someone else's name on the Can't Wait Card - how do I do this?

If you have already set up the membership and then realised you wanted the Can’t Wait Card in someone else’s name, just get in touch with us as soon as you can, and we can make this change for you.

What if I lose my Can't Wait Card?

Just let us know! We would be happy to send you a new one.

How do I get a Can't Wait Card in another language?

As a member, you can order a Can’t Wait Card in one of 30 different languages, which can be a lifesaver when travelling. Please email membership@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk to get yours.

Which languages can I get a Can't Wait Card in?

We currently offer Can’t Wait Cards in the following languages: Arabic, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Mandarin, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese and Welsh.

What is a Radar Key?

Radar Keys give you independent access to over 9000 locked public toilets around the country. We offer it free of charge to new members who join the charity and who are patients for their own personal use.

What if my Radar Key doesn't work?

The Radar Keys we provide are to fit Radar locks and are provided by the official National Key Scheme provider. If your key does not work, it may be that the lock is broken, or that the venue has chosen to use a different lock. Asking the venue in question is the best way to get the answer.

What if I lose my Radar Key?

We only have stock for one Radar Key per member. However, if you have already had one from us but need a new one, these can be purchased at Disability Rights UK.

I've signed up for membership; can I be sure I'll receive a Radar Key?

If you’ve ticked to receive a Radar Key in your sign-up application and you are living with Crohn’s or Colitis, you will receive a key in your Membership Welcome Pack.
