We are delighted that influencer and TV star Georgina Aurelia Elliott has teamed up with wearable hot water bottle brand YUYU. The collaboration will raise funds and awareness for Crohn’s & Colitis UK through a limited edition YUYU Bottle cover that Georgina has designed.
One of the reasons Georgina took part in the Channel 4 reality game show The Circle was to raise awareness of Crohn’s and the reality of living with it. She discussed her condition on screen throughout the show and shared photographs of herself wearing her temporary ileostomy bag.
It wasn’t long before viewers of the programme also started to notice that Georgina often had something tied around her when she was on screen. This long hot water bottle had been a birthday present from her mum the year before, and helps to ease the discomfort Georgina experiences from her Crohn’s.
Since she appeared on The Circle, Georgina has been looking for ways to support Crohn’s & Colitis UK by raising funds and awareness. When the pandemic started to limit opportunities for other fundraising projects, Georgina came up with the idea of working in partnership with YUYU.
“Crohn’s & Colitis UK supported me and were there for me back when I was first diagnosed,” Georgina says. “They’re such a beacon for people who are struggling, and they are such a hard-working charity. So, I knew that I wanted to do something to give back to Crohn’s & Colitis UK, regardless of the limitations of coronavirus.
“I contacted YUYU and they responded in a really positive way. I said I wanted to get Crohn’s & Colitis UK on board as well, and it became a really good partnership.”
Georgina worked with the brand to design her YUYU Bottle with a lilac, waffle-textured cotton cover and a branded label featuring her signature and our logo. Beth Quaife from YUYU says: “Georgina had a meeting with our head designer, Emma, and we agreed to use a pastel version of the Crohn’s & Colitis UK brand colour on the cover, but then to use the deeper purple for Georgina’s signature on the label.”
Georgina’s tip for users of the YUYU Bottle is to keep it consistently hot, with the cover on, and to wear it like a sash across your body. Or, if you’re experiencing a hot and sticky episode overnight, you can fill it with cold water and chill it in the freezer.
Ten percent of the money from each sale of the limited edition YUYU Bottle will be given to Crohn’s & Colitis UK to help us fund our work.
Jenny Abbott from YUYU adds: “The bottles that are sent out to customers come with a note from Georgina about why this collaboration is important, alongside some words from Crohn’s & Colitis UK.”
Georgina says: “I have an ongoing relationship with Crohn’s & Colitis UK and I’ll continue to do what I can to raise awareness.”
