Gift Aid

Every last penny will help to make a difference to those affected by Crohn's and Colitis.

Capturing every last penny

 giftaid

Every donation, sponsorship or membership payment you make to Crohn’s & Colitis UK could be worth more, at no extra cost to you, just by choosing to Gift Aid it. Gift Aid is a government initiative that allows charities to claim back 25p for every £1 that’s donated – so for example, if you donate £10, we’ll get £12.50. As soon as you give your permission by completing our Gift Aid declaration form, we can claim the tax back on your donation.

You qualify for Gift Aid if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are a UK taxpayer
  • You pay enough tax*

*You pay Income Tax and/or Capital Gains tax that is at least equal to the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year, otherwise it is your responsibility to pay the difference.

Update your details

There are some conditions:

  • The donation must be made by an individual from personal money – we can’t claim Gift Aid if the donation is on behalf of someone else or from a group of people e.g. collection from work colleagues
  • We must have a record of the home address of the donor
  • The donor must tick the Gift Aid box on online or paper sponsor forms
  • The donor is responsible for making up any difference if they pay less income tax/capital gains tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all their donations in that tax year

We can back-claim Gift Aid on donations made up to four years ago and we’ll continue to claim until you tell us otherwise, so long as you’re eligible.
If you’ve changed your name, moved house or no longer qualify for Gift Aid due to a change in tax circumstance, please let us know by calling us on 01727 734485 or emailing us at supporters@crohnsandcolitisorg.uk
