During the meeting we highlighted the expertise and innovation that our organisations bring to the health system and called for the Department of Health to:
- Recognise people living with long term conditions in policy and decision making.
- Recognise LTCANI as a partner to co-design solutions and system change as part of Department of Health’s transformation agenda.
- Commit to no more cuts to the essential services provided by voluntary and community sector organisations.
Whilst in Northern Ireland we met with The Alliance and Sinn Fein Health Spokespeople Paula Bradshaw and Linda Dillon to discuss the impact of delayed diagnosis and how they can make the case for change. We also discussed how the upcoming results of the IBD UK benchmarking surveys will be crucial in shaping IBD care in Northern Ireland next year.
