Thank you for your ongoing support and life-changing generosity. We couldn’t be there for so many people like David without special people like you...

I was in my mid-40s, a husband, and a father of three girls, when I was diagnosed with Crohn’s. Almost two years after that initial diagnosis, I was in an intensive care unit with stage 3 organ failure, requiring major surgery to stay alive.

Crohn’s, and the surgeries and countless procedures I had, left me feeling hollowed out, both physically and mentally. I lost over 27 kilogrammes in weight, suffered with extreme fatigue, and the pain left me bedridden.

But with tremendous support from my family and friends, the NHS and Crohn’s & Colitis UK, I was able to rebuild myself. I was able to become a husband to my wife and a father to my children again. In particular, I found the charity’s website extremely helpful. Learning about the medications I’d been prescribed and the procedures I was going to have was very reassuring and valuable to me.

I can’t thank the charity and the people who support it enough. You were by my side when I needed to understand my illness and make the right treatment choices for me and my family.

David, Crohn’s & Colitis UK member
