Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct service offers you:

  • Your own dedicated, named Personal Adviser, who you speak to or email with every month
  • All appliance and medication prescriptions delivered at the same time, discreetly to your door
  • A regular monthly stock check means that you only order what you need – no more excess stock or unwanted boxes
  • Access to a team of specialist stoma nurses (not available in Scotland due to NHS rules)
  • Access to a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist for help or advice

Who is Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct for?

The service is for people who have Crohn’s and Colitis and require stoma products. The service offers discreet and efficient delivery of your stoma products, as well as your prescription medications. The delivery of other prescription medications is only available to people who use stoma products and have joined Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct.

What is the Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct product range?

Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct supplies a very wide range of products and is completely independent of all the manufacturers. The choice of products used is down to you and your clinician. You can continue to use your existing products when you join and Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct will not try to change any of your products.

Can I get complimentary items with my order if I use Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct?

Yes. Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct supplies complimentary bags and wipes as part of their terms of service with NHS England. Additionally, a further range of complimentary items can be supplied, appropriate to members’ prescription needs.

Can I use Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct to deliver my stoma products and use my local pharmacy for my medication?

Yes. There are two options:

  • Get both your stoma products and medication delivered at the same time by Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct.
  • Get just your products delivered by Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct and continue getting your medication from your local pharmacy.

Please note: This service does not replace companies such as Healthcare at Home who deliver biologic medication such as Humira, and Vedolizumab. Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct is unable to deliver these medications.

No. The costs to the NHS are broadly the same.

The cost of both products and medication are set by the NHS and are the same for Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct as all other home delivery companies and pharmacies.

Is contact with Crohn’s & Colitis UK members controlled by Crohn’s & Colitis UK?

Yes. Crohn’s & Colitis UK’s database retains all membership information. Your data is only used by Bullen Healthcare if you say that you want to use the Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct service. What does Crohn’s & Colitis UK do with the money raised from the Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct service?

Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct uses the income to help fund its vital support for people living with Crohn’s and Colitis in the UK such as providing patient information, helpline services, campaigning for access to better healthcare and funding research. Who will manage customer feedback and how?

Every Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct delivery includes details of how to raise customer service issues. Bullen Healthcare provides quarterly service reports to Crohn’s & Colitis UK.

All enquiries made directly to Crohn’s & Colitis UK are logged and followed up through regular contact with Bullen Healthcare.

Who regulates Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct?

NHS England and The NHS Pharmaceutical Regulations 2013 are responsible for regulating and controlling Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct, all other home delivery companies, all pharmacies and dispensing doctors.

Should I still join Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct if I have to request my own prescriptions?

Some local health authorities have now stopped third party providers (like Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct) from requesting prescriptions on behalf of their customers. This means that anyone living in those areas now has to request their own prescriptions from their GP.

The great news though is that you can still take advantage of the many benefits from being a member of Crohn’s & Colitis UK Healthcare Direct including a named personal advisor, the supply of all makes and manufacturers, products and medication delivered in the same order and a comprehensive range of complimentary items.

The only difference is that once we’ve spoken to you on your monthly “well-being and stock check in” we will then also provide you with the relevant information and prompt you to make sure that you request your prescription from your GP.
