Rising Stars in Research - Fellowships

We're cultivating emerging leaders and changemakers in the world of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Research.  Our Fellowships are awarded to exceptional researchers who will support our mission to drive pioneering research into IBD.

Rising Stars in IBD Research

By helping talented researchers get on the ladder to success, we're building lasting relationships that translate into opportunities for our Fellows and improved lives for people with Crohn's or Colitis

Our funding opens doors for career progression, further funding, and the opportunity to make a real difference to people who need answers and a cure.

I received the fellowship in the final year of my PhD...it really allowed me to focus on research and dedicate the necessary time to deliver on my research goals.

The accolade associated with the fellowship has definitely helped with my career and helped me achieve additional funding and publish and present to a high level.

I have been given the opportunity to stay on at St Mark's Hospital as post-doctoral supervisor for a number of trainees with the hope that they can continue research in the field and build from the successes of the PhD.

Attracting new talent into the field of IBD will increase the amount and quality of IBD research being undertaken, improve treatment and services available to people with Crohn's or Colitis, and bring us closer to finding a cure quicker.

What does a Crohn's & Colitis UK Fellow do?

In a nutshell - make change happen!

Our Fellows will showcase the calibre of expertise we are drawing into the field of IBD.  They will be an exemplar of our values - Ambition, Compassion, Stronger Together - amplify our messages, inspire action and influence change.

I feel strongly that research is a key element into becoming an expert in inflammatory bowel disease and undertaking a period of dedicated research time will help me integrate research further down my clinical training and long-term clinical practice.

...it's enabled me to carry out multi-site research across the UK and formulate and develop my own ideas for research...but most importantly it's allowed me to work with a forward-thinking research group...that all have a shared vision of improving the lives of children and adults with inflammatory bowel disease.

As we support our Fellows to climb the ladder of success, the profile of Crohn's and Colitis rises with them and so too the world-class research that we are investing in.  Raising awareness of these lesser known conditions will help to leverage further support for people living with them, and divert resources to IBD research and service improvement.

We want answers that will improve lives for people with Crohn's or Colitis and get us to a cure quicker.
