New Chief Executive for Crohn's & Colitis UK

Published 10 December 2018

Crohn's & Colitis UK has announced the appointment of Sarah Sleet as its new Chief Executive. She will commence her role in March 2019 and joins the charity from Coeliac UK, where she has been CEO for over ten years.

Approaching our 40th year of working hard for everyone affected by Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis, we wanted a new Chief Executive that will deliver our ambitious vision and lead our dedicated staff and volunteers to achieve great impact. We are delighted to welcome someone of Sarah’s calibre to the charity as we embark on the most ambitious plan of our history. Sarah’s specialist range of skills and leadership will move us forward with confidence.

Sue Cherrie,
Chair of Crohn's & Colitis UK

Sarah Sleet is an experienced and successful Chief Executive and worked with a broad range of health and patient groups and European patient organisations, as well as government advisory and research bodies.

She has also built expertise in education, social and economic policy, scientific research, income generation and campaigning.

She lives in Oxford and is Chair of Community Christmas, a small charity working to alleviate loneliness at Christmas.

Crohn’s & Colitis UK is highly respected by many in the health sector and it delivers so much for the people it cares for, and I am absolutely delighted to join the team. I’m really excited about meeting all the staff and people involved with, and supported by, the Charity and learning more about what we mean for people affected by Crohn’s or Colitis. Gut conditions simply do not get the recognition and resources they deserve in the health sector and wider society and I will make it my mission to work with the charity to change that.
