Lobby your MP this summer on prescription charges

Published 28 July 2017

We need your help to lobby your MP to help abolish prescription charges in England for those with Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis or other forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

In June 2017, the Prescription Charges Coalition comprising of over 40 charities including Crohn’s and Colitis UK as Co-Chair, launched its Still Paying the Price report, highlighting the ongoing detrimental impact that prescription charges are having on the health and wellbeing of people with long-term conditions like Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

Following this launch, the coalition has created a lobby pack (pdf) for patients and supporters to petition their MPs, particularly over the summer recess, asking them to support a review of the outdated and arbitrary prescription charge exemption criteria which is 50 years old (and hardly changed) in June 2018.

The pack outlines step by step, how to contact and lobby your local MP, detailing the main points of the campaign and highlighting why the Prescription Charges Coalition is campaigning for everyone with a long-term condition to be exempt from prescription charges.
