2020 research funding is now available

Published 25 June 2019

Are you a researcher looking for funding? Is your research original, good value for money and most importantly, will it make a difference to the lives of people with Crohn’s or Colitis?

Following the launch of our Pain Collaborative Research grants, our 2020 Open Call grants and Fellowship grants are now also open!

Our Open Call Research Awards focus on two key themes – Medical and Improving Lives. Medical awards concentrate on the causes and mechanisms of Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis, including treatment and surgery, and Improving Lives awards are directed towards the social and psychological impact of Crohn’s or Colitis, and the development of health services for people living with the conditions.

2019 sees the official launch of our exciting Crohn’s & Colitis UK Fellowship Award, as part of our Rising Stars initiative.

Last year, the first Fellowship Award was made to an exceptional candidate who was given the title of Richard Driscoll IBD Research Fellow as a tribute to the late Richard Driscoll who had a passion for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) research.

This year, we’re introducing a new funding stream exclusively for Fellowships to attract new talent into the field of IBD. We want to create the IBD researchers of the future.

We introduced the Crohn's & Colitis UK Fellowship programme to give us the opportunity to bring young, talented, clinicians into IBD research, with a view to them then becoming the experts in IBD in the future. We’re excited to announce that our 2020 grants are now open and we’re looking forward to receiving applications.

Helen Terry,
Director of Research, Crohn's & Colitis UK

By helping talented researchers get on the ladder to success, we're building lasting relationships that translate into opportunities for our Fellows, improved lives for people with Crohn's or Colitis, and a better shot at finding a cure.
