Crohn’s & Colitis UK believe that we can support people living with the conditions to live well.
When people are managing their condition successfully, they may not want to be reminded of what can go wrong. However, we can give people the right information and support to manage their condition and improve their quality of life at all stages of their journey.
We also work closely with healthcare professionals to deliver better outcomes for their patients and we know that they play a big role in helping people to self-manage.
We support policymakers and health leaders to develop services that encourage people to manage their conditions better at home or in the community, where appropriate. This is in line with a major policy drive around self-management across the UK.
We developed a position statement on self-management to help us deliver a clear message about what self-management means for people living with Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. To do this, we carried out a large scoping exercise to find out what people and health care professionals thought and what mattered to them.
We are now working together with people living with Crohn’s and Colitis, healthcare professionals and policymakers to co-produce new resources to support people to live well with Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis.
