Charitable trusts and foundations

We value the transformational impact that trusts and foundations make towards or work. They enable us to provide vital support to people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis, provide the latest evidence and insight into the conditions, work with the health sector to drive improvements in health care as well as fund pioneering research into the conditions – ultimately to find a cure.

Through our award-winning patient information, our multi-channel helpline, awareness-raising campaigns, and our capacity to influence policy makers, we’re a unique source of support and advocacy for people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis. Without us, many people would have nobody else in their corner.

A donation from a Trust or Foundation can help to support people affected by Crohn’s or Colitis and empower them on their journey living with this serious and debilitating illness.  Some examples of what your grant could help deliver:

  • Multi-channel helpline supporting around 14,000 people each year.
  • Award-winning patient information resources – to hospitals across the UK and newly updated resources on our website.
  • Peer support networks run by volunteers, mediated by us.
  • IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist Programme – supporting specialist nurses to become badged Crohn’s & Colitis nurses.
  • Medical Research e.g. funding ‘Precision Medicine’ research, which will help shape the future of personalised medical treatments.
  • Developing e-health tools e.g. a Decision Aid Tool about medications.

What Trusts and Foundations can expect from working with us:

  • We will provide written reports and updates on the work you funded, to demonstrate the difference your grant is making.
  • We can help share news of the work we do together, through our social media platforms.
  • We will invite you to stewardship events.
  • We value your expertise and insights so we welcome your input in our focus group discussions and meetings, where you could have your say in helping shape our work.
  • We can offer you the opportunity to enhance your understanding about current issues affecting our community by providing a chance to talk to people living with Crohn’s or Colitis or talk to one of our IBD Clinical Nurse Specialists.
  • We would like to acknowledge your generosity by listing your Trust or Foundation in our audited annual reports and accounts.

We invite you to see first-hand how we are making a difference through recent grants awarded:

We would like to acknowledge the generous support of the trusts and foundations that have supported our work including those who wish to remain anonymous. We could not have delivered our services without your incredible generosity.

While we seek to find a cure for Crohn’s disease, the Helmsley Charitable Trust is committed to supporting Crohn’s disease management through initiatives aimed at improving patients’ lives today. Patients deserve access to the right tools and resources that they need to thrive. We are proud to partner with Crohn’s & Colitis UK to ensure that the latest quality, evidence-based information is accessible for the IBD community to make informed decisions about their treatment and care.

The Helmsley Charitable Trust

Diseases of the gut are essentially hidden diseases which don’t get as much publicity and support as those no-less deserving but more visible diseases do. They also affect more people than generally understood. One of the Foundation’s priorities is to support people who need help now, which is why the Foundation has supported Crohn’s & Colitis UK.
