Dr Gill Holdsworth

Gill was elected to the Board of Trustees at our AGM in 2015, having previously served as a co-opted Trustee.

I live in Buckinghamshire with my husband, three dogs and a few chickens. Professionally, I am a cell and molecular biologist, working in research for a pharmaceutical company. I am particularly interested in understanding how genetics, epigenetics and dysregulation of the microbiome is related to disease.

In 2012, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and joined Crohn’s & Colitis UK shortly afterwards. Although I was aware of Inflammatory Bowel Disease through my work in scientific research, becoming a patient gave me a profoundly different view of the condition and the support offered by Crohn’s & Colitis UK really helped me during this difficult time.

I have always loved music and during my free time, I enjoy playing and teaching acoustic guitar. My husband and I also manage a small local bluebell wood which is a great way of combining fresh air and exercise!

I am passionate about supporting IBD patients and their families, and am hugely excited to contribute to the Board of Trustees.
